Rich's journey
Rich’s passion for art began with his studies in Fine Art, where he spent over 6 years honing his skills. He then apprenticed with renowned artist Ian Edwards, developing expertise in metalwork and bronze sculpture. Starting with bronze resin sculptures, Rich gradually expanded his business, handling the finishing, welding, and colouring of pieces.
Even before setting up his own foundry, Rich was already working on bronze pieces, outsourcing the casting while perfecting the final touches in his own workshop.
When Rich moved into the current studio, he had the opportunity to pursue his dream of casting and pouring bronze on-site. Under the guidance of David Snoo Wilson, Rich set up his first furnace and mastered the complete process of bronze casting. This marked the start of a new chapter, giving him the freedom to bring every aspect of the work in-house.
As the foundry grew, so did the team. Flo joined the business, and together they expanded the foundry’s capacity, taking on larger public commissions while raising their small family. The recent studio refurbishment, coupled with the addition of new machinery, allowed for larger projects, cementing The Lost Foundry’s position as an unstoppable creative force!
Today, they work alongside Adam, the wax worker, and Tyler, the metal worker, both of whom have supercharged the team with their natural talent and passion. At The Lost Foundry, everyone is encouraged to learn and grow, building a family atmosphere where creativity thrives.
At The Lost Foundry, we believe that each project is a collaboration. Rich takes pride in forming personal connections with clients, working closely to turn their vision into reality. The foundry’s work continues to reach new places, sparking joy and conversation around the world.
Rich’s own collection is also growing, and he shares the wealth of knowledge gained over the years with his team, passing on his passion for the craft to the next generation of artists.
